MEDIATION

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a method of settling disputes over the breakdown of your marriage or relationship. It is not about helping couples stay together but to deal with the practical and legal arrangements on a separation. The aim of Mediation is to help reach a solution which both parties feel is fair and which is in the best interests of any children.

Mediation takes place in private and informal setting usually with one mediator and both parties. The mediator is trained to act impartially and does not take sides or tell the parties what to do. They express and share ideas to help the parties explore the various solutions and enable them top negotiate fairly.

Mediation can be used to settle disputes over children, financial arrangements , division of property or any other practice problems arising on the separation or divorce.
