MEDIATION
How Long Will Mediation Take?
This will depend upon how many issues there
are to agree resolve. Each mediation session usually lasts
about 1 ½ hours. Two to four sessions may be sufficient to
reach an agreement. At the end of Mediation you will get a
written summary of the issues that have been agreed upon.
This written summary is not legally binding and the parties
will be able to seek professional independent legal advice
from a solicitor before accepting the agreement. Once the
agreement is accepted the solicitors can prepare a written
agreement which can then be made into a Court order.
Obviously, if the parties cannot reach
an agreement during mediation then they would be able to instruct
solicitors to try and negotiate and failing that the decision
would be made by the court.
